Simple Jet Experiment
Jet Powered Skateboard
This page shows a quick practical experiment we did with an un-heated air jet from a leaf blower. We took what little we learned from this project and applied it to the Thermojet Project for Junk Yard Wars.
At this point Brad Nye is not sure if he wants to participate in this experiment.
Check out the trick styrofoam coffee cup and duct tape jet nozzle. Actually this makes a pretty good nozzle due to the shallow angle.
Brad steers by leaning his body from side to side. The Bottom lip sticking out is used to control air flow around the face. Actually Brad loves to ride this thing, he is only mad because I told him to stop and sit still for the photo.
It makes a lot of noise, but it goes pretty good.
Notice the shock absorbing rear engine mounting sub-system.
The flexible front engine mounts allow easy thrust line adjustments.
